Our mission is to contribute to the development of society through our technologies. The greatest contribution we can make to coexist not only with humans but also with diverse living things and nature is through our technological innovations. We contribute to the SDGs that the international community is aiming for by creating sustainable manufacturing processes that are highly efficient and considerate of energy consumption, and by supporting material development and quality improvement in a wide range of industries. Based on our advanced technologies, we keep working on the following goals.
In order to achieve affordable and sustainable food production, it is necessary to increase the production efficiency of all foods. Through the development of highly efficient production processes, we are contributing to the production of nutritious foods in mass-production at low prices and delivering them to the society. Specifically, there are dry powder foods (infant formula, protein powder, oligosaccharides, lactic acid, functional nutrients, etc.) produced using our spray dryers. Foods and beverages in powder state increase preservation periods and reducing bulk volume compared with liquid products also leads to lower the transportation cost. In addition, food and beverage products obtained by culturing useful microorganisms by our incubator shakers, and solid powder oil and fat products produced using our spray coolers are also contributing to the challenges of food shortages.
In order for everyone to receive high-quality health care services without worrying about money, it is necessary to mass-produce high-quality but inexpensive medicines. We contribute to the R&D and production in biopharmaceuticals industry by developing and delivering our large-scale incubator shakers. Our culture process technology is also used in research to realize regenerative medicine such as iPS cells. In our powder technology field, we are developing advanced technologies that support the production of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), powdered drugs, excipients, etc. produced using spray dryers. We have developed the world’s first freeze granulator (spray freeze granulation drying process) that can be scaled up for mass-production. Freeze granulation technology has made it possible to produce powder products without heat effects. We keep working together with our customers to develop new pharmaceutical products using the freeze granulation technology.
The effects of water scarcity are likely to become increasingly severe due to population growth and climate change. Sustainable water management is an important issue for all people, living things and ecosystems. We produce precision cleaning systems used in the manufacturing processes of semiconductors and precision parts, and these cleaning processes consume enormous amounts of water resources. On the other hand, these products are used in wide variety of social infrastructures that support our world, so it is impossible to stop the productions. In order to maintain a balance between infrastructure and the environment, it is important to reduce and/or reuse the water used in these processes as much as possible. Through technological development of cleaning systems, we contribute to achieving this goal by improving our systems that can efficiently clean with less water and recycle cleaning fluid.
Productions of goods, in general, consume large amounts of energy. We work together with our customers to achieve their goals by supporting them improve energy efficiency in their manufacturing processes. We also need technological breakthroughs from the development of new materials. For example, one of our technologies is used in the biofuel production process from biological resources (biomass raw materials) such as microalgae. Plant resources in particular can be considered sustainable energy because they absorb carbon dioxide during the growth process. Our technology is also used to manufacture advanced batteries that are essential in storing energy. We are contributing to the technological development of high-efficiency lithium-ion batteries, sodium-ion batteries, and all-solid-state batteries.
Pursuing technological innovations is at the core of our business. Our powder technology, biotechnology and precision cleaning technology support technological developments and productivity improvements in a wide range of industries. Researches are essential to promoting innovations. At our Powder Technical Centers, Biotechnical Center and Cleaning Test Centers, we conduct research and development on a daily basis together with our customers in industries, universities, and research institutes.
Earth’s resources are limited and we must prevent excessive production and consumption. To achieve sustainable consumption and production, we need to build an efficient and smart society. As a process engineering company, we also need to design processes in a right way to avoid using inappropriate chemicals and/or consuming excessive raw materials. It is also important to reduce waste by extending the life of our processes through design innovations and improvements, and by repairing and reusing components wherever possible. We can also help reduce waste by providing our customers with solutions that improve higher yields and reduce defective product rates.
